Michael J Smith has performed Johnny Cash’s for many years with his band, The Rhythm Rangers (www.rrangers.com or www.myspace.com/rhythmrangers). Buck Page, founder of the “Riders of the Purple Sage” (“Ghost Riders in the Sky”) was Michael J’s inspiration for the Mighty Cash Cats After hearing a performance Buck commented, “It’s as close to Johnny’s music as I can remember. That band can really play and I can’t believe how much like Michael J sounds like Johnny. I especially like their version of Johnny’s “Ghost Riders in the Sky”, my first big hit.” Michael spent many years touring internationally with his own band and his credits include playing as a sideman with groups such as Canned Heat, the Kingston Trio, Vickie Carr, and Albert Collins.

Craig Newton on guitar and vocals got his rockabilly and James Burton licks playing shows for several years with one of the country’s top Elvis impersonators, Jim LaBoeuf, as well as playing with the Rhythm Rangers.
